If all goes the way football gods would like, at the end of the current 2023-2024 season, attackers Adam Hlozek and Patrik Schick, as well as goalkeeper Matej Kovar, will lift the Bundesliga trophy in an unprecedent season with Bayer Leverkusen. Just up north, Slovak defender David Hancko will probably end at 2nd place with Feyenoord Rotterdam, as PSV Eindhoven at 1st is too far out of reach.

The list of players who grow up in the Czech Republic's most hallowed football club is long and varied: Midfield maestro Tomas Rosicky moved on to Borussia Dortmund and Arsenal (and was the highest value player Sparta has ever sold, at 14 million GBP) Forward Tomas Cvancara was sold to Borussia Monchengladbach Goalkeeper and legend Petr Cech was sold first to Stade Rennais and later to fame and fortune at Chelsea Another goalkeeper, Martin Dubravka, was sold to Newcastle, where he still plays today Ivory Coast's Wilfried Bony went from the Czech capital to Vitesse, and the list goes on and on.
The Big S in the middle of Sparta's logo has always been a major and winning part of Czech football in its different variations. AS Sparta Prague (or Praha, as Czech people refer to the city), was formed in 1893 and very quickly became a leading force in local league, winning its first tile in 1912, at the then Bohemian Football Union Championship. In all (playing in the Czech First League and before that in the Czechoslovak First League) Sparta has won a record 37 titles and 15 Czech Cups. In 1991-92, Sparta has reached the Champions League semi-finals and a UEFA Cup winner's Cup semi-finals in 1972-73.
Sparta's all-time appearance leader is Jaromir Blazek, who recorded 240 matches between 2000-2007 and 2018-2012. The club's all-time goal-scorer leader is Horst Siegl, who scored 92 goals in 265 matches.
